CDC updates measles tally to include a second death
The CDC's national measles count includes two deaths, while Pennsylvania has reported four measles-associated deaths.

The CDC updated its national measles tally late Monday to include an additional death in 2026, bringing the count to two, The Hill reported. NPR said the CDC listed over 3,600 confirmed U.S. cases as of Sept. 24 and two deaths as of Sept. 28. The CDC's death count may change as it reviews more information, NPR reported.
Pennsylvania has counted four measles-associated deaths, NPR reported, while the CDC has disputed whether measles caused those deaths. NPR also reported possible-exposure notices in California after an infected, unvaccinated passenger traveled on trains and buses, and in St. Louis after an infected person visited bars and a sports stadium. People with two doses of the MMR vaccine are considered protected. NPR said people exposed to measles are usually advised to seek medical advice and isolate if they develop symptoms within three weeks.
