Lilly’s amylin-Zepbound combination led to 23.3% weight loss in trial
At the highest dose, the combination produced average weight loss of 23.3%, while treatment discontinuations reached up to 27%.

Eli Lilly reported that its experimental combination of eloralintide, an amylin receptor agonist, and Zepbound (tirzepatide) produced average weight loss of 23.3% in adults with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes. The study included 367 adults. At the highest dose, participants lost an average of 54.1 pounds at 48 weeks. Lilly based the 23.3% result on an efficacy estimand, which represents outcomes had all randomized participants taken their study treatment as directed for 48 weeks.
Adverse events, mainly gastrointestinal, were more frequent with the combination than with either drug alone, and treatment discontinuations reached up to 27% among people taking eloraTZP. Lilly plans to begin phase 3 trials in the fourth quarter of 2026.
