President Donald Trump announced a one-time $90 payment toward Medicare Part B premiums for eligible beneficiaries. Time reported that 20.8 million enrollees will receive the rebate. The White House said payments will come from the Medicare Improvement Fund, established by Congress in 2008, and be sent in October by direct deposit or check.

According to CMS, beneficiaries whose premiums are already paid by Medicaid do not qualify. STAT reported that recipients must live in the U.S. and cannot be receiving Medicaid premium assistance or paying income-adjusted premiums. Medicare Advantage enrollees are also ineligible, STAT reported, citing CMS. STAT cited KFF in reporting that more than half of eligible Medicare beneficiaries have Medicare Advantage.
