Gardeners Basics is recalling one-pound bags of Waltham 29 broccoli sprouting seeds because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, according to a recall notice posted by the FDA on October 8, 2026. The seeds were sold nationwide online and shipped directly to consumers.

The recalled seeds come in a white and green resealable pouch marked “Packed for 2027.” The package has UPC 848137042889. Gardeners Basics said it was notified on September 26 that its supplier had recalled bulk broccoli seed lot #W4105 after Salmonella was detected in a seed sample collected and analyzed by the FDA. The seeds were also identified as being used by a sprout grower whose finished product was part of an FDA investigation involving a multistate foodborne illness outbreak.

No illnesses related to this product had been reported to Gardeners Basics as of October 6, 2026. Consumers should stop using the seeds and should not eat them or sprouts grown from them. The company said consumers can contact it by email, text or voicemail.
