Krasnyi Oktyabr Inc. is voluntarily recalling Starfish Seafood Trio, a package of cold smoked salmon, halibut and trout, because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the FDA recall notice. The recalled packages are 8 oz (227 g). The product was distributed in New York, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina and South Carolina. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the product.

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets identified the potential contamination, and the company said it is cooperating with that agency and the FDA. Krasnyi Oktyabr is a wholesale distributor and did not manufacture the product. It has notified affected customers and asked them to stop sales and distribution, check remaining inventory and notify their customers as appropriate. Consumers who bought the seafood are urged not to eat it and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
