Icotrokinra trial found sustained responses in ulcerative colitis
Among patients continuing icotrokinra, most had a clinical response, remission or endoscopic improvement at week 76.
In the long-term extension of the phase IIb ANTHEM-UC trial, most patients who continued taking oral icotrokinra had a clinical response, clinical remission or endoscopic improvement at week 76, MedPage Today reported. Patients who had a clinical response at week 28 could continue into the extension, and 85% stayed in the study over 76 weeks.
For 100-mg, 200-mg and 400-mg doses, clinical response rates were 81.3%, 72.7% and 72.7%, respectively. Clinical remission rates were 56.3%, 59.1% and 56.8%, with 97% corticosteroid-free, and endoscopic improvement rates were 64.6%, 68.2% and 63.6%. Adverse events were more frequent in icotrokinra groups than in the placebo group, but serious adverse events and events leading to treatment discontinuation were not more frequent. The phase III ICONIC-UC trial is evaluating the drug in adults and adolescents with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis.
