ICER analysis finds launch prices for new medicines remain high
ICER said most of the 26 medicines it reviewed were priced above its cost-effectiveness guidelines.

A new analysis from the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review found that launch prices for new medicines rose between 2022 and 2025, and that most of the medicines it assessed were priced above its cost-effectiveness guidelines, BioPharma Dive reported. ICER compared prices with benchmarks of $100,000 or $150,000 per quality adjusted life year.
The outlets reported different figures and scopes. Endpoints News said the median list price at launch rose 24% from 2022 to 2025, while net prices rose even more. STAT reported that the median net price for 202 newly launched medicines rose by 35%, to $257,000 last year from $173,000 in 2022. BioPharma Dive said ICER drew statistics from 26 drugs it had reviewed and that were approved between 2022 and 2025. ICER said Brinsupri and Winrevair would need discounts of around 90% to meet its guidelines, while Journavx was within its thresholds.
