Cardinal Health tells customers to correct Presource kits with BD Alaris sets

The FDA says affected Presource kits should be corrected before use by removing and discarding the recalled BD Alaris infusion sets.

Reported by 1 outlet Wednesday, October 21, 2026

The FDA issued an early alert after Cardinal Health sent a letter to customers about Presource kits that may contain BD Alaris Pump Infusion Sets included in a recall. Cardinal Health recommends correcting affected kits before continued use.

The FDA says the recalled sets may cause unpredictable pump behavior, including under- or over-infusion or failure to infuse, which may lead to severe adverse events. The agency says outcomes may depend on factors including whether patients are neonates, children or critically ill. Customers should locate and quarantine affected kits, then add a warning label instructing clinicians to remove and discard the recalled sets. As of August 19, 2026, BD had not reported serious injuries or deaths associated with the issue. The FDA is reviewing information and says it will update the alert as new information becomes available.
