Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets, Inc., is recalling Natural Grocers Brand Organic 2-Pound Mung Beans because they may contain glass. The company initiated the recall after customers complained about sharp glass fragments. The FDA said swallowing glass could cause injuries, including damage to teeth, cuts to the mouth and throat, or a perforation of the intestine. No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.

The recall covers beans in 2-pound clear plastic bags with UPC 000080112600 and pack dates 26-160, 26-173, 26-196, 26-224, and 26-258. The dates appear in the lower left corner of the label. Consumers should discontinue use and discard the product or return it for a full refund or credit. The company said consumers can call 303-226-1434, Monday-Friday, 8am-5 pm (mountain time), or email [email protected] with questions.
