The MILD-MT trial found that endovascular therapy (EVT) plus medical management was associated with better 90-day functional outcomes than medical management alone among people with mild acute ischemic stroke and a large-vessel blockage. The trial was conducted at 26 comprehensive stroke centers in China. Of 304 people randomized, 300 were included in the modified intention-to-treat analysis.

An excellent outcome, defined as a modified Rankin scale score of 0 or 1, occurred in 69.4% of the EVT group and 50.0% of the medical-management group, according to the study. Symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage within 48 hours occurred in three patients in each group. Serious procedure-related complications occurred in 13.2% of EVT recipients, and one death occurred in that group.
