Uganda is reinforcing Ebola border controls and requiring citizens returning from Congo to quarantine for 21 days at their own expense, the Health Ministry said. Nonessential Congolese travelers will be returned through the nearest border crossing at their own expense, and people who enter illegally face prosecution. Travelers with a history of travel to Congo cannot transit through Uganda, including on chartered flights. All arrivals must complete a passenger locator form and undergo health screening.

Uganda has recorded no confirmed cases since declaring its outbreak over on July 28. Investigators are working with Nigeria and international partners to review findings and verify the movements and interactions of a woman who traveled from Uganda to Nigeria and contracted Ebola. Uganda said it had not established whether she traveled to Congo. The country has also deployed Ebola experts to Congo to help contain the Bundibugyo Ebola strain.
