The FDA is advising consumers not to buy or use Ort-Flx, a product marketed for pain, arthritis and allergies on websites including ebay.com and possibly in some retail stores. FDA laboratory analysis confirmed the product contains diclofenac, dexamethasone and methocarbamol, none of which are listed on its label.

According to the FDA, diclofenac is an NSAID that can increase the risk of serious heart and gastrointestinal problems and can interact with other medications. Dexamethasone can weaken the immune system and cause high blood sugar, muscle damage and mental health problems. Methocarbamol can cause drowsiness, dizziness and low blood pressure, which can make driving or operating heavy machinery unsafe. The FDA says people taking Ort-Flx should consult a health care professional immediately about safely discontinuing it. A health care professional should assess the risks of corticosteroid withdrawal.
