Sanofi has ended development of SAR448272, an experimental STAT6 degrader it was developing with Nurix, according to Endpoints News. BioPharma Dive reported that Sanofi had exercised an option to the drug, which Nurix discovered.

Sanofi told analysts it still considers STAT6 an important pathway in immunology, but said this particular molecule cannot move forward. The company has another STAT6 program in development with privately held Recludix Pharma. The decision prompted a sell-off in Nurix shares and debate among analysts about drugs designed to degrade STAT6, BioPharma Dive reported. RBC Capital Markets analyst Brian Abrahams called the decision “disappointing,” while Leerink’s David Risinger wrote that he did not view it as a negative signal for the broader STAT6 class.
