WHO says cholera has killed around 1,800 in DRC this year
The WHO says cholera has killed around 1,800 people in the DRC this year, with some 60,000 cases recorded.

The World Health Organization said cholera has killed around 1,800 people in the Democratic Republic of Congo so far this year. The agency said some 60,000 cases have been recorded. Most infections were detected in the eastern provinces of North and South Kivu, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO’s chief, said.
Tedros said cases are also following the Congo River basin, which could stretch the outbreak to Kinshasa. The WHO warned that the rainy season could help the waterborne disease spread. Conflict and difficulty reaching remote areas are hampering the response. The country is also battling an Ebola outbreak.
