UnitedHealthcare, Cigna and Centene join CertifyOS credentialing program
The program lets providers submit their information once for credentialing with multiple participating health plans.
CertifyOS has announced a National Shared Credentialing Program, with UnitedHealthcare, Cigna and Centene as its initial participating health plans. The program is intended to let providers submit their information through one portal instead of applying separately to each participating payer. CertifyOS administers the credentialing process and performs primary-source verification at NCQA and Medicaid standards.
CertifyOS said the program is scheduled to launch this Fall and will use a per provider per year subscription model. The company said the U.S. spends $2 billion a year verifying provider credentials, health plans spend between $200 and $500 per provider per recredentialing cycle, and providers submit 17 applications per year on average. CertifyOS said it aims to reduce duplicate administrative work, costs and delays in providers joining insurance networks.
