Administration targets 189K deceased and duplicate enrollees for ACA subsidy removal
People flagged for duplicate coverage, and estates notified about deceased enrollees, have 30 days to dispute the records before subsidies and plans are canceled.

The Trump administration is removing 189K deceased and duplicate enrollees from ACA subsidies, Healthcare Dive reported. CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz said at a press conference that no one is losing health insurance coverage because of the latest effort, which the administration described as part of its work to identify fraud, waste and abuse.
CMS officials said overlapping Medicaid coverage accounted for roughly 120,000 cases this year, about 58,000 involved duplicate Medicare coverage and about 11,000 involved deceased enrollees. CMS contacts duplicate enrollees, who have 30 days to respond. The agency also contacts the estate of a deceased enrollee, which has 30 days to dispute the record before subsidies and plans are canceled.
