Kenya reports a second Ebola case as Congo outbreak continues
Kenya’s second patient is a 39-year-old relative of its first case who was already in quarantine when symptoms appeared.

Kenya has reported a second Ebola case. The 39-year-old man is a relative of the country’s first patient and was already in quarantine when symptoms appeared, according to Kenya’s Ministry of Health. The first patient, a Kenyan citizen, caught the virus while living in Congo and died earlier this month.
Kenya’s Ministry of Health identified 128 people who had contact with the first patient. Of those, 108 are in quarantine, 5 have left Kenya and 15 have not been tracked down. Contact tracing for the second patient has begun. A World Health Organization official said Wednesday there was no evidence of an Ebola outbreak in Kenya. In Congo, authorities have confirmed more than 4,000 deaths and 9,000 cases as officials struggle to contain the outbreak.
