Rush and Endeavor Health have unveiled plans to merge. The resulting nonprofit system would be Illinois’ largest by hospital count, with 12 hospitals and nearly $11 billion in annual operating revenue, Fierce Healthcare reported.

Under the proposal, the system would operate under the Rush name. Endeavor would provide cash for key initiatives, and its CEO, J.P. Gallagher, would lead the combined system as president and CEO. Its board would have 20 members, divided equally between representatives of the two systems, Healthcare Dive reported.

The combined system would have more than 46,000 employees and clinicians and serve more than 2 million patients each year in Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana, according to Healthcare Dive. The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
