Family Farmstead Dairy is recalling a lot of its raw cheddar cheese because it may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, according to the company’s announcement posted by the FDA. The product was distributed to grocers in NY and NJ. The announcement identifies it as Family Farmstead A2 Raw Cheddar, in an 8 oz package, with the lot marking 7/22/27.

The company said the issue was found after a sample in Maryland isolated two strains of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli in two samples of the cheese. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date. Consumers should not eat the product and should discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. The announcement says no other Family Farmstead Dairy products are included in the recall.
