Pope Leo walks and celebrates Mass as he recovers from lung cancer surgery
The Vatican said Pope Leo is recovering normally, but results needed to determine whether his lung cancer spread have not been made public.

Pope Leo XIV resumed his regular diet, began walking and celebrated Mass in the hospital as he recovered from surgery to remove the lower lobe of his right lung, the Vatican said. His doctors said blood tests and a chest X-ray showed he was recovering normally. The surgery confirmed lung adenocarcinoma, the most common type of lung cancer.
The Vatican has not made public results showing whether the cancer spread. The final pathology results will help guide whether Leo needs further treatment, according to reports. The Vatican has not announced changes to his planned trip to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru, but Peru’s president said the visit could be affected by his recovery.
