Centene and Oscar outline 2027 ACA marketplace plans
Oscar plans to add 140 counties, while Centene’s county additions do not change its overall footprint after it exits Delaware and New Hampshire.
Centene, Oscar Health and UnitedHealthcare are changing where they will offer Affordable Care Act marketplace plans in 2027, as other insurers prepare to leave the exchanges, Healthcare Dive reported. Centene plans to enter 55 additional counties, but will stop offering Marketplace plans in Delaware and New Hampshire. The county additions do not change its overall geographic footprint, the report said.
Oscar plans to add 140 counties, including South Carolina, where it has not previously operated. UnitedHealthcare is ending ACA plans in Georgia, while its footprint of about 1,300 counties remains similar, with additions in some states, a spokesperson said. Roughly a dozen carriers have said they plan to exit marketplaces after this year. Healthcare Dive reported that remaining insurers proposed a median 15% rate increase for 2027. Open enrollment begins Nov. 1 in most states.
