The FDA has outlined steps drugmakers can take to seek approval for gene-editing treatments tailored to an individual mutation, according to Endpoints News. BioPharma Dive described the plan as a draft approval framework for therapies that could benefit different subsets of patients with the same disease.

BioPharma Dive said the FDA’s broader rare disease efforts include a Wednesday afternoon meeting at its White Oak campus on the agency’s Rare Disease Framework Initiative, which aims to set standards for individual conditions. The report said the draft could be relevant to products in development at Prime Medicine, citing an analyst’s assessment.
