Selma Blair’s lawyer said she missed several doses of medication for multiple sclerosis and hit her head during a flight from Los Angeles to New York, leaving her in severe confusion and disorientation. The lawyer described the incident as a medical emergency. Blair, 54, was arraigned Monday on two counts of second-degree assault, Fox News reported. MedPage Today reported she was accused of kicking a nurse at a hospital after alleged assaults on two flight attendants.

The reports do not identify the medication, and Fox News said it is not known whether Blair’s symptoms were directly related to multiple sclerosis. Neurologist Lee Murray, who said he had not treated Blair, told Fox News that missing MS medication can raise the risk of relapse and new neurological changes. He advised patients who develop new deficits to seek medical attention.
